Artist: Infinite Body & Terrors
Release: Split / Collaboration
Label: Cavelife
Duration: 20 minutes
Cat#: 011
Year: 2009
Insight: This tape has been a staple in my catalog since I first received it some years back.  Goes without saying that Infinite Body crafts some of the best noisy, guitar pop pieces (sad to see no new output since 2010).  The A side of the tape has both artists providing their own pieces, with Terrors covering "God Bless the Child" by Billie Holiday.  An interesting song but done with excellence.  The B side is where this tape really shines.  The two come together and with Laena Myers-Ionita on vocals the trio shines bright.

Artist: Cody Yantis
Release: Starvation Winter
Label: Sunshine Ltd
Duration: 25 minutes
Cat#: 022
Year: 2013
Insight: Now this tape was amazing when I got it back in May.  With Michigan now ridden with ice, this album really hits home.  A fitting titled for some frigid acoustic and electric guitar progressions.  Sad but beautiful plucks.  Blows my mind that Yantis only released a couple albums and more so that this beautifully packaged album via Josh Mason's Sunshine Ltd is still in stock.  If I had decided to make an awfully vexing "best of..." shit-list, this would be contender for #1.  Cannot recommend this one enough.

Release: Ambrosias Vol. 1
Label: Koppklys
Duration: 76 minutes
Cat#: 006
Year: 2012
Insight: Debut release (I think) from the mighty Opal Tapes wizard, Stephen Bishop.  Challenging chops of field recordings and soundscapes.  To say the least, an experimental cassette essential.

Artist: Clime
Release: Six Cane on Tohil's Mount
Label: Self-released (Jake Webster)

Year: 2013
Insight: Endless meditations for sitting around a warm fire with your old pup.  Jimmy Billingham (Sunk Series/Journey of Mind) and Jake Webster (Tuluum Shimmering) produce some of U.K.'s most thought provoking, mix of delicate electronic and organic instrumentation.  These are sides to get lost to, and in.

Artist: Mortuus Auris and the Black Hand
Release: Transit of Venus
Duration: 40 minutes
Cat#: 11
Year: 2012
Insight: Warped and toyed manipulations lay foundation for another powerful release by Pete Taylor.  Layered with organ, vinyl, and field recordings, this tape pulls you under and does not cease.
